WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
When you come to see Brenda for therapy you will find her office to be comfortable, safe and respectful. It is important to her that you have a confidential and comfortable space to explore your concerns. You get to decide whether your work with her will be short term or long term. Some people just need a tune up while others prefer to do depth work which tends to be more longer term.
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Brenda has been practicing as a psychotherapist for twelve years and has been working in the mental health field since the early 1990s. She received her Clinical training at The Johns Hopkins Bayveiw Medical Center, which is where she completed her clinical internship and worked for many years. Her graduate degree is from the University of Maryland-Baltimore and her undergraduate is from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
THE FOLLOWING ARE SOME CONCERNS THAT BRENDA ESPECIALLY ENJOYS WORKING WITH:
Anxiety/Stress Related Problems: I’m so stressed out! What can I do about it? How can I let go of perfectionism, slow down and still feel productive and on top of things? How can I manage waves of panic and my worries about the future? How can I learn to relax and take better care of myself?
Academic/Executive /Life coaching: I don’t know what I want to do but I am not happy with what I’m currently doing? How can I develop a plan to strike out on my own and start my own business? How can I create a life where I spend more time doing the things I love? How can I communicate more effectively with my boss/professors/colleagues?
Midlife Crisi/Development Concerns: I’ve achieved everything I wanted to so why aren’t I happy? My life looks perfect on the outside but I feel miserable. I’m not sure that I am in love with my partner anymore but I don’t know what to do about it.
Women’s Issues: I am stressed and overwhelmed by the many demands both work and family place on me! I still hate my body after all of these years! How do I maintain a sense of independence and yet still feel close in my intimate relationships?
Mood/Bipolar Disorders: Is this normal sadness or am I depressed? How can I stop thinking so negatively? How can I develop new habits to create and sustain a more balanced mood? How can I feel less irritable and angry? Do I need medicine?
Divorce Recovery: Will I ever feel good again? How do I deal with the tremendous feelings of loss and sadness? How can I help my kids get through this? Am I a bad person for getting divorced?
